Clifford Edward Bridgeman was born on 21st December 1891 in Burwell (Newmarket Q1-1893 3B:514 ), baptised in Burwell on 12th June 1892, son of George and Julia BRIDGEMAN (née HARDING).

1901 census...Aged 9, he was at Newnham, Burwell with his widowed mother Julia BRIDGEMAN [43]; brothers Louis [19] stockman on farm, Percy[17] horseman on farm, Montague [11], Reginald [5] and Baden [4 months). All were born in Burwell. His Burwell born, Army pensioner, father George BRIDGEMAN died in 1900, aged 62.

1911 census...Aged 19, a farm labourer, he was at Parsonage Lane, Burwell with his brother Louis (labourer); mother Julia, brothers Percy and Montague,both farm labourers, Reginald (shepherd's boy) and Baden.

He was a younger brother of Percy BRIDGEMAN who was killed in France in 1914 see here



He enlisted in Newmarket. Without his Army records there is no way of knowing exactly the circumstances of his death. He had served abroad and had been evacuated to the military hospital in Kew End, Hampstead where he died. It is not known whether due to illness or from wounds.






Clifford Bridgeman is buried in Burwell (St. Mary's) Churchyard, South boundary
